Ideas Portal
What this is
Section titled “What this is”The Ideas Portal is a product feedback loop built into the MaxoPerf console. Any signed-in user can submit feature ideas, vote on existing ones, leave comments, and watch scores change over time. The MaxoPerf team uses the portal to prioritise the roadmap — a high-scoring idea is a strong signal that a feature matters.
All participation is anonymised by default: the portal assigns each user a random, non-identifying handle that is unlinked from your email address or display name. This lets feedback stay candid without exposing who said what.
Where to find it
Section titled “Where to find it”Click Ideas Portal in the left navigation sidebar. The route is /ideas.
Ideas list
Section titled “Ideas list”The ideas list is the main view. It shows all submitted ideas, sortable and searchable, with summary stats for each row.
Your Ideas name
Section titled “Your Ideas name”At the top of the page, the Your Ideas name section shows the random anonymous handle assigned to your user for this portal. This handle is:
- Generated once per user and stable across sessions.
- Not linked to your email address, account name, or any other profile field.
- Displayed on every idea or comment you author so other users can identify your contributions within a session — but not trace them to your identity.
Sort and filter
Section titled “Sort and filter”Use the Sort and Search controls to explore ideas:
| Control | Options / behaviour |
|---|---|
| Sort | Top voted (default) — highest net score first. Newest — most recently submitted first. Most discussed — highest comment count first. |
| Search | Free-text filter on idea titles and descriptions. Results update ~350 ms after you stop typing. |
How to browse ideas
Section titled “How to browse ideas”- Open Ideas Portal in the left nav.
- Use Sort to pick the ordering that fits your goal — use Top voted to see what the community considers most important; use Newest to see recently submitted ideas.
- Type in Search to filter by keyword (e.g. a feature area or integration name).
- Click any idea row to open the Idea detail page.
Submit an idea
Section titled “Submit an idea”The New idea button at the top-right of the Ideas Portal opens the submission dialog.
How to submit an idea
Section titled “How to submit an idea”- Click New idea in the page header.
- Enter a Title (at least 3 characters, max 200). Write a title that describes the problem or the desired outcome — not just a feature name.
- Optionally fill in the Details field (max 8 000 characters). Provide context: the use case, any workarounds you currently use, and why the feature matters.
- Click Submit. The portal opens the Idea detail page for the new submission immediately.
Idea detail
Section titled “Idea detail”Clicking an idea row from the list opens the Idea detail page. This page shows the full description, the vote score, comments, and — if you are the author — author tools.
Metric strip
Section titled “Metric strip”The metric strip below the page title shows four counters:
| Metric | What it means |
|---|---|
| Score | Net votes (upvotes minus downvotes). Higher is better. |
| Comments | Number of comments in the discussion thread. |
| Your vote | Your current reaction — Up, Down, or None. |
| Author tools | Enabled if you authored this idea; Hidden otherwise. |
Vote on an idea
Section titled “Vote on an idea”- Open the Idea detail page by clicking the idea title.
- Click Upvote to cast a +1 vote, or Downvote to cast a −1 vote.
- Clicking the same button again removes your vote (toggles back to None).
- Your vote is reflected immediately in the Score counter and the Your vote metric.
Discussion thread
Section titled “Discussion thread”The Discussion section shows all comments on the idea. To add a comment:
- Type in the Add a comment text area.
- Click Post comment. Your comment appears at the bottom of the thread under your anonymous handle.
Comments you authored show a Your comment badge. As the comment author, you can:
- Click Edit to update the comment body and save a new version.
- Click History to view all prior versions of your comment.
- Click Delete to remove the comment entirely (removing it from all readers’ views and invalidating votes and replies that referenced it).
Author tools (for idea authors only)
Section titled “Author tools (for idea authors only)”If you submitted the idea, an Your idea section appears above the description with three actions:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Edit title and description | Opens a dialog to update the idea title and body. Changes are saved with a timestamp and kept in your edit history. |
| History | Shows the full edit history of the idea title and description — visible only to you. |
| Delete | Permanently removes the idea and all associated comments and votes from the portal. |
Tips & gotchas
Section titled “Tips & gotchas”- Anonymous by design. Your random handle is stable across sessions but not tied to any profile field. You cannot choose or change your handle.
- Score = net votes. A score of 0 can mean no votes or an equal split of upvotes and downvotes — check the discussion for context.
- Search is title + description. The search field filters on both the idea title and the details body. Short keywords work better than long phrases.
- Idea deletion is permanent. Deleting your idea removes all comments and votes with it. There is no soft-delete or restore.
- Comments are per-idea. Comments are not cross-linked to other ideas or to tests and runs in the console.
Related docs
Section titled “Related docs”- Navigating the console — the left navigation, top bar, and shell overview.
- Projects — organise tests into projects within a workspace.
- Getting started — first-run walkthrough including workspace and test setup.
