Billing and plans
MaxoPerf keeps billing and usage close to the same product surface you use to create tests. There are no hidden cloud bills to reverse-engineer later, and every run page records which plan was active when it ran.
A plan is the contract between you and MaxoPerf. The plan is attached to the account (see Accounts, workspaces, and projects) and controls:
- Which product capabilities are turned on — for example, private locations, scheduled runs, or dashboard templates.
- Capacity limits — concurrent runs, virtual users, and runners.
- Whether metered usage is billed at a per-unit rate above the included quota.
Plans come in tiered packages — typically Free, Starter, Growth, and Enterprise. The exact list and limits live on the Pricing page.
Entitlements
Section titled “Entitlements”An entitlement is one capability the plan turns on. Examples:
- Private locations enabled or not.
- Maximum concurrent runs — say, 1 on Free, 5 on Starter, 25 on Growth.
- Dashboard templates enabled or not.
The console always tells you why a button is disabled or why a higher limit is required, and links back to the plan switch page so you can upgrade in place.
Metered usage
Section titled “Metered usage”Some plans include a base quota and bill metered usage above it — for example, virtual-user minutes or runner-hours. Metered usage is recorded as the run executes and is visible in real time on the Usage page of the account, not just at the end of the month.
You can:
- Forecast cost before increasing a test’s load profile.
- See which workspace, project, or test contributed the most usage in a billing period.
- Set soft alerts so an unexpected schedule does not surprise you.
Annual plans and quota
Section titled “Annual plans and quota”Plans can be billed on a monthly or annual cadence.
- Monthly — your included VU-hour allowance is available each billing period and resets at the start of the next period.
- Annual — the full year’s allowance (12× the monthly figure) is granted immediately when you subscribe, as a single pool that covers the entire 365-day term. The quota is not reset monthly.
Trade-off: because the whole year’s quota is available up front, an annual subscriber can consume it all in the first week and then reach the hard cap for the remainder of the term. This mirrors paying for the full year at once — the allowance scales with the commitment. If you need predictable monthly pacing, you can self-manage by targeting roughly 1/12 of the annual pool per month.
Downgrade refunds: if you downgrade from an annual plan (to another annual tier or to a monthly plan) before the year is up, any refund is calculated against your original annual payment — prorated by both the quota remaining in the pool and the time remaining in the annual term, whichever is smaller. You are never refunded more than you are owed based on the original annual price.
Subscriptions and payment
Section titled “Subscriptions and payment”We support card-based subscriptions through our payment provider. Invoices, receipts, and tax handling are managed inside the account’s Billing screen. To upgrade, downgrade, or cancel, see Upgrade or cancel your plan.
